Westworld loves to mess around with timelines. So expect to see more Dr. Ford, but only as Young Ford.

Westworld Season 1 brought us into the park’s history by using Robert Ford’s (Anthony Hopkins) memories. But it was through the lens of the Uncanny Valley young Ford that we got a glimpse into Westworld’s humble beginnings. It looks as though we’ll see more of Young Ford when season 2 premieres later this year. Get ready for showrunners Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy to mess with our minds again by using the past to keep us from solving anymore riddles. Nolan and Joy have provided a few details as what to expect in season 2.

In an interview with EW, the pair talked about some of our favorite missing characters from season 1 returning to the show. One of the characters you may not have thought about was CGI young Ford. So what do they intend to reveal about the park by bringing back young Ford?

If you’ve been wondering if Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins is coming back, think again. According to the

EW interview

, Nolan and Jay have put an end to that mystery:

"Ford was really and truly killed by Dolores in the season 1 finale. He’s not expected to return as played by Hopkins. We will, however, see a younger version of Dr. Ford in flashbacks played by another actor at some point."

It looks like we’ll just have to suffice with Hopkins’ stellar role as Odin in Thor: Ragnarok. However, the appearance of his younger self in season 2 may play a vital role in the upcoming story line.

Fans of the show went berserk on the internet after the impressive debut of the Super Bowl trailer. But there was a little, subtle hint about the park’s dark past in one of the scenes. Last

season, Charlotte Hale (Tessa Thompson) had Lee Sizemore sneak the defunct host Peter Abernathy out of Westworld with 35 years of data. But we are unsure if the host made it out of the park.

What we do know is that Peter Abernathy was part of an earlier park story where he played a professor. This is reason why kept spouting all those Shakespeare lines in the first season. In the recent trailer, there’s a scene where Abernathy is strapped to a table with a bunch of Delos guards holding him down. In the background, there is a person looking over the incident. Some have speculated that this person is a scene involving young Ford.

Does this mean that we’ll see Ford start to believe in Arnold’s theory that the hosts were becoming sentient? This could be the start of Ford’s plan that we saw played-out at the end of season 1.

Next: What are those faceless hosts called?
