What has Ed Harris been up to since the final episode of Westworld?

Ed Harris is a 3 times Oscar nominee because of his abilities to bring depth and heart to each of his characters. He’s done it all from playing a misguided patriot bad guy in The Rock to opening our eyes to his portrayal of American artist Jackson Pollock.

But it was the gun-toting, mysterious Man In Black in HBO’s hit Westworld that sucked us into this crazy wild west world of robots and humans. When the season ended, Ed Harris do not hang up his cowboy hat. He kept going and provided us with a few more interesting characters.

If need your Ed Harris fix, then here are 4 movies he’s acted in since Westworld:

1. A Crooked Somebody (2017)

  • Director: Trevor White
  • Writer: Andrew Zilch
  • What’s it about: The story revolves around Michael Vaughn (Rich Sommer) who swindles people by convincing them that he can talk to the dead. A local criminal finds out about Vaughn’s abilities and requires Vaughn’s talents to help solve a murder.
  • Ed Harris’ character: Harris plays Vaughn’s father and does not approve of Michael’s life choices. What’s really cool about this movie is that Ed Harris acts alongside fellow Westworld actor Clifton Collins, Jr. who played Lawarence aka El Lazo.

2. Mother! (2017)

  • Director:  Darren Aronofsky
  • Writer:  Darren Aronofsky
  • What’s it about: Mother! is hard to explain. It’s a chaotic story that stars Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem as a husband a wife who have a crazy relationship. However, Lawrence gave her own interpretation during an interview via Entertainment Weekly:

"I have different answers. One of them in short is: the movie was called Day Six [on set]: it could be about the creation and the end of the universe. You have the creation of man and women and then the corruption of man and woman and then overpopulation and creation and religion and so on and so forth."

  • Ed Harris’ character: He is only referred to as “Man” in the movie. Just as Lawrence plays Mother and Bardem plays Him. All the characters are part of the religious metaphor Aronofsky is looking to explore.

3. Kodachrome (2017)

  • Director: Mark Raso
  • Writer: A.G. Sulzberger
  • What’s it about: Matt (Jason Sudeikis) is an aging music talent scout who finds out his estranged father Ben (Ed Harris) is dying of cancer. Wanting to spend more time with his son, Ben wants to take him on a road trip to get some old photos developed before the Kodachrome film becomes obsolete.

4. Geostorm (2017)

Director: Dean Devlin

Writers:  Dean Devlin, Paul Guyot

What’s it about: Geostorm is another movie to enter the Disaster genre. Jake Lawson (Gerard Butler) has to figure out why his satellite system that’s supposed to stop extreme weather events is causing devastating storms all over the world. The movie has the usual scenes you find in the other Disaster movies: ice in the desert and huge chunks of hail plummeting from the sky.

Ed Harris’s character: He plays secretary of state Leonard Dekkom.

Just because Westworld ended doesn’t mean that the Oscar nominated actor has to stop. Ed Harris will continue to delight and entertain us with all of his characters.
